To service the windshied washer motor in its new location, follow the procedures on Pages 4 and 5 in the 1958 Edsel Service Manual to gain accessibility to the unit by removing the fresh air ducts, radio and speaker, and speaker grille.
Prior to the subject change, the necessary adjustments between the windshield wiper control and the wiper motor were made by means of a set screw at the motor. To make this adjustment in the new motor location, it would be necessary to remove the radio speaker and grille to reach the wiper motor. Therefore, an adjustment sleeve has been incorporated in the wiper motor control cable assembly that permits the necessary adjustments to be made without requiring access to the wiper motor itself.
The adjustment sleeve in the windshield wiper control cable is readily accessible under the instrument panel immediately behind the
windshield wiper control knob. Adjust this sleeve as necessary to position the wiper control in the "off" position to obtain
the proper alignment with the adjacent control knobs.
